The Canadian Super-E® programme was launched in Ireland a year ago though Interhabs have been building houses here for 4 years.

In advance of the EU’s Directive on Energy Labelling for all new houses the Canadian Super-E® Specification exceeds the minimum standards of the Irish Building Regulations. Interhabs can achieve these standards with competitive construction costs. An Interhabs house will achieve a high energy rating when Energy Labelling is implemented in 2006 due to its high levels of insulation, high performance windows, its airtightness specification and testing and its whole house ventilation system with heat recovery.

Interhabs have developed some standard house designs which can be modified to suit the customers needs or a completely bespoke design can be built to the customers own design drawings.

Interhabs have obtained type or system approval from the Premier building insurance scheme for all their Super-E® houses. The combination of the independent inspections by Premier’s surveyors, the Super-E® Certification process and Interhabs pre-engineered manufactured houses provides a level of quality assurance that is unsurpassed in the house building industry.

The research and experience of building timber frame houses that are durable and low maintenance in different climates around the world ensures that an Interhabs Super-E® home in Ireland will perform well and appreciate in value over time. The durability of the houses has been proven with research into every area of performance. Monitoring over many years has found that the moisture content of the external timber stud walls actually decreases over time due to the airtight wall design and the ventilation system. The kiln dried timber actually dries out further and stabilises at 12% moisture content several years after completion. Similarly the relative humidity of the interior air is reduced to below 70% at which level house dust mites can’t survive. House dust mites are the major cause of allergic reactions for humans in housing.

It is important that the pricing structures are transparent, and you get what you pay for. Hence our base product pricing is as listed.

Materials package. Including all timbers, beams, rafters, joists,
internal and external windows and doors, all internal partitions insulated with
fibreglass, pre-built stairs in pine with rails, HRV installation, testing
and certification. We offer options on three grades/ specs of windows and
different timbers throughout the dwelling. Our preferences are for the
Loewen window (triple glazed and argon filled) and the Douglas Fir
timbers, which are in the house in Westport.
Cost from €50 per sq ft. plus VAT @ 21%

 

Erection Costs. Basic frame & materials to storm proof & airtight stage, and commissioning of Heat Recovery Ventilation Unit, prior to handing over to client.
Cost €10 per sq ft. plus VAT @ 13.5%

These costs do not cover electrical or plumbing allowances. However our
builder, Jack Murray, of Woodberry Developments, Cappataggle, Ballinasloe,
Co Galway offers a full turnkey project management package on request.

Turnkey Package

Depending on scale, complexity of design, and choice of finishes, we are estimating approx €110 to €115 plus Vat per square foot for a turn key package. Obviously we will need to cost from plans to give a more accurate indication of final cost.

The following timeframes apply with each project:

First container arrives 8 /10 weeks after formal order.

Erection time- frame: 4/6 weeks depending on complexity of design and scale of project.

Finances:

10% of full material costs as down payment to proceed with order.

Financing Discount of 1.5% if we are paid 30 days before each container shipment from Nova Scotia, Canada.

Special Note to Owners - it is the responsibility of the home owner to ensure that the work carried out on the foundation raft meets with the satisfaction of the Interhabs approved builder.
